Zion Builders, Inc. is certified lead safe company by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

In 1978, the Consumer Product Safety Commission banned lead-based paint for residential use due to its severe health risks - especially to children and pregnant women, Lead is a toxic metal that can cause irreversible damage even in small amounts. when old paint deteriorates, it can release lead dust and chips that can be inhaled or ingested.

For children, exposure to lead can result in developmental delays, learning disabilities, behavioral issues, and damage to the brain and nervous system. A blood level of just 3.5 micrograms per deciliter (mcg/dL) is considered elevated and may warrant intervention. For pregnant women, lead can cross the placenta and harm the unborn baby, increasing the risk of miscarriage, premature birth, low birth weight, and long-term developmental problems. Even 5 mcg/dL is considered a threat during pregnancy. A microgram (mcg) is one millionth of a gram - so tiny that it's nearly invisible to the naked eye. To put it into perspective: A single grain of table salt weighs about 60 micrograms. The amount of lead that can harm a child is less than what fits on the tip of a pencil. Because of this, any home built before 1978 has a higher likelihood of containing lead-based paint and should be inspected for contamination before renovation. Contaminated materials could include paint, treated lumber, and other construction elements. If you want to renovate a contaminated building, a certified lead renovator must be present onsite during removal to ensure safety and compliance.
